There are major spoilers for Castle season six on this page! If you are spoiler-free and want to stay that way – leave now! Otherwise, prepare to be spoiled!
Now, there actually have been a large number of spoilers, but many of those were truly accidental, not stuff the Castle production intended to get out. Those spoilers, well, you’ll have to look for them yourself. Anyway, the above picture is where season five left us: Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) asking “Katherine Houghton Beckett” (Stana Katic) to marry him! Being that there were several other issues going on, some viewers were surprised. Nevertheless, the summer speculation has been about two major issues. The first is how Beckett will answer, yes or no. After seeing this behind the scenes photo release, I’d say the answer is pretty clear:
YES! Beckett is clearly a “yes!” So, all the fears about breakups, etc, can be put to rest. Andrew Marlowe is still laughing at the idea of any, “Moonlighting Curse.”
The second question is about the job in D.C. – will she take it? Some casting news implies an answer to that also. Yesterday, TVLine.com broke the news that Lisa Edelstein (Formally, Dr. Cuddy on House) will be joining the cast of Castle for a multi-episode story arc. Aside from the fact that Lisa Edelstein is fabulous (only the best for Castle) her character, Rachel McCord, is intriguing. Described as “a tough and highly-skilled Federal Investigator whose appearance plays a vital role in Beckett’s decisions about her future,” makes me think that she will first encourages Beckett take the job, after an initial turn-down. Being that she helps Beckett with “decisions,” at the end of it all, Rachel’s character will make Beckett see the job isn’t what Beckett wants.
Of course, this is total speculation on my part. However, with a multi-episode arc, it seems Beckett will be hanging out it Washington D.C. for a bit. Unlike shows such as Glee, this two-location storyline, will have a beginning, middle and end. It’s a nice short shake-up of the story, but we all know that at heart, Beckett’s home is the 12th precinct – and Castle’s loft.
